Goosenecks State Park

Goosenecks State Park overlooks the stunning San Juan River Canyon. The river is 1000ft below the overlook and the water traverses 6 miles as it winds thru the canyon but only moves 1.5 miles closer to its final destination of Lake Powel. Only a small section of the canyon is visible from the overlook, but what a view it is. This is one of the best examples of an entrenched river meander in North America.

What I find so amazing is the terrain surrounding the canyon is flat and gives no indication that this canyon exists until you arrive close to the canyon edge. Simply stunning.

River rafting is popular on the San Juan River and floating through the canyon must be an amazing experience.
