We spent a week in beautiful Connecticut in the river town of Portland which is just across the river from Middletown and just south of Hartford.
We had a campground right on the river with an incredible view. Morning view out my bedroom window was wonderful with the light streaming down the river. The local rowing team would go by most evenings in the calm waters. Overall a peaceful place to be (except for the visit thru our screen door by a bear!).
Our plan was to spend the week exploring the region on motorcycle and the river by boat. Unfortunately the weather wasn't too cooperative with multiple days of rain hampering some of our activities. We finally got a break in the weather with a beautiful sunny day and we ventured out in the boat. We got a mile up the river and lost the water pump on the outboard motor. Fortunately we went up river so the row back wasn't difficult but a rather pleasant float back to our campsite. So much for exploring the Connecticut River.
We did get in a couple of rides on the motorcycle. The riding was awesome with curvy and scenic roads with lots of quaint villages and towns along the way, Just what makes riding enjoyable.
We had dinner with Ed & Sandy at an Italian restaurant called Rossini's in East Hampton. We met Ed and Sandy thru RVillage, which is a RVer's social network. The food and company were excellent! Initial impression was this would be just a pizza joint but Trish had the Chicken Marsala and I had the Chicken Picata and both were excellent. It was fun talking to Ed and Sandy and discovering how similar our journeys were.
